Concluding that the most successful stimulant to pearl production was the introduction of a tiny mother-of-pearl bead into the mollusk’s tissue, he rendered the process by which the most exquisite cultured pearls are produced today.
A translucent to opaque variety of microcrystalline quartz, the inclusions in aventurine give it its color and sparkle, or aventurescence. Because the aventurines in these earrings have a reddish-pink sparkle, they are likely combined with hematite.
