Good luck, peace and success are thought to grace the wearer of peridots. Gem-quality peridots come from Arizona, Burma, Norway, Hawaii and the islands in the Red Sea. Flecks of this gemstone are sometimes found in meteorites.
In Southeast Asia’s Nepal, the rivers rage and the mountains are enshrouded in a smoky mist. It is this stunning backdrop that provides the inspiration of many of Michelle Winston’s jewelry creations. That smokiness can be seen in these earrings’ center topaz.
The term briolette is derived from the color of the stones, which have a lemony cast. A variety of crystal quartz, the hardness of citrine ranks a 7.0 out of a possible 10.0 on the Mohs scale, making it largely insensitive to scratches. The citrine is the birthstone of November.

All gemstones, including peridots, smoky topazes and citrines, should be wiped clean with a soft cloth to avoid scratching their surface. Wash the stones with warm soapy water, gently brush them with a toothbrush and then wipe them dry.
Silver jewelry should be stored in an airtight container with a soft lining. Cleaning with soap and water and buffing with a soft cloth will keep your silver shiny as new. Avoid exposure of your silver jewelry to abrasive cleansers and bleach, which may cause discoloration.
