In Southeast Asia’s Nepal, the rivers rage and the mountains are enshrouded in a smoky mist. It is this stunning backdrop that provides the inspiration for many of Michelle Winston’s jewelry creations. That smokiness can be seen in this necklace’s center topaz.
For millennia, people have revered topaz for its rarity and beauty. The ancient Romans thought so highly of the gemstone that they dedicated it to their god Jupiter. Sometimes referred to as an “apocalyptic stone,” topaz is believed to protect the wearer against his or her enemies and is considered a symbol of beauty and splendor, qualities that become obvious as one gazes into it.
This Beaded Smoky Topaz Choker Necklace measured approximately 18.5 inches. Wear it long or short, the extender on the back can be adjusted to fit your style.

All gemstones, including smoky topazes, should be wiped clean with a soft cloth to avoid scratching their surface. Wash the stones with warm soapy water, gently brush them with a toothbrush and then wipe them dry.
Sterling silver should be stored in an airtight container with a soft lining. Cleaning with soap and water and buffing with a soft cloth will keep your sterling silver shiny as new. Avoid exposure of your sterling silver to abrasive cleansers and bleach, which may cause discoloration.
