These Geometric Swarovski Earrings by Colombian designer Laura Hernandez are a Blue Gobi exclusive. French wires are threaded with brown Swarovski crystals that are faceted into triangular and rectangular prisms. The geometric shaping of the crystals allows for a spectral display of color that radiates the hues of rainbow when light hits the facets. Sterling silver beads lie between the Swarovski crystals. These Geometric Swarovski earrings measure 1.5 inches.

Swarovski crystal has been deemed “the finest quality, full-lead crystal made today” by many esteemed members of the glassware industry. To be classified as Swarovski, the crystal must contain a minimum of 32% PbO. This high percentage of the chemical mixture renders the crystal optically pure. Swarovski crystal is faceted with tremendous precision, a process which results in the beautiful prisms it casts.
The Incas, who once ruled what is modern-day Colombia—homeland of Laura Hernandez—were pivotal in the development of the science of geometry. One of their important cultural contributions was the quipa, a system of knotted cords. The color, connection, placement and spacing of these cords were an early form of logical-numerical recording.
These Crystal and Silver earrings measure approximately 1.5 inches.

To maintain the crystalline quality of Swarovski crystals: 1) avoid exposure to household chemicals like hair spray, perfume and cleaning products; 2) wipe them gently with a warm damp cloth to remove body oils and perspiration; 3) when storing, keep them separate from other gemstones and metals that may scratch them.
Sterling silver should be stored in an airtight container with a soft lining. Cleaning with soap and water and buffing with a soft cloth will keep your sterling silver shiny as new. Avoid exposure of your sterling silver to abrasive cleansers and bleach, which may cause discoloration.
