Lore surrounding the sapphire dates back millennia, when ancient civilizations believed that the color of the blue firmament that overhung them came from the earth being embedded in a giant blue sapphire. Sapphires come in a wide range of colors, but blue sapphires remain one of the most sought-after hues. Although they are extracted from the hard ground of our “blue planet,” sapphires still exude their “gems of the sky” qualities.
The earliest known peridots were used in jewelry dating back to the 2nd century B.C. Then, peridots were extracted from a small volcanic island in the Red Sea. Today’s most prolific peridot deposits are located in the Kashmir region.
A biological micro-environmental system results in the formation of apatite. This phosphorous mineral is usually blue to green.
These multi-gemstone square hoop earrings measure approximately 2.0 inches.

All gemstone jewelry, including sapphire, peridot and apatite, should be wiped clean with a soft cloth to avoid scratching its surface. Wash the stones with warm soapy water, gently brush them with a toothbrush and then wipe them dry.
Sterling silver should be stored in an airtight container with a soft lining. Cleaning with soap and water and buffing with a soft cloth will keep your sterling silver shiny as new. Avoid exposure of your sterling silver to abrasive cleansers and bleach, which may cause discoloration.
