These Square Cylinder
Black Patina Earrings take angular geometry to a contemporary extreme,
resulting in a captivating pair of earrings. The 2-inch long sterling silver
ear wires are bent to form an angular arc that allows these earrings to hang at
the perfect angle. Suspended from the ear wires are square cylinders that are
glazed with a black patina for a sophisticated matte-finish effect. The overall
length of these Square Cylinder Black Patina Earrings is 2 inches. These earrings are the creation of Jennifer and John Walsh.

The same landmark
that guided Meriwether Lewis on his exploration of the West still looms tall in
the Montana horizon. Square Butte
still appears much as it did when Lewis first encountered. This flat-topped
mountain may have inspired the Montana
artisans who created these square cylinder black patina earrings.
Patina is the
oxidized metal that coats silver, bronze and copper. Silver is often oxidized
to bring out the details in a jewelry piece. During the oxidation process, the decomposition
of chemical elements results in the formation of a black coating. The resulting
oxidized silver is a copper-silver alloy that is superficially coated with a
layer of sulphides.

To maintain the
patina finish of your earrings, never immerse them in water or scrub them
harshly. Instead, wipe them gently with a soft polishing cloth.
Silver jewelry
should be stored in an airtight container with a soft lining. Cleaning with
soap and water and buffing with a soft cloth will keep your silver shiny as
new. Avoid exposure of your silver jewelry to abrasive cleansers and bleach,
which may cause discoloration.
