Three graduated hanging hoops, or hugs, are interspersed with Swarovski and Rutile crystals, or kisses, of light and dark earthy and green tones. This handmade necklace’s hardwire 950 silver neck chain measures 16 inches with a 5-inch circumference. The matching earrings dangle 1.5 inches from the lobe.

Composed mostly of titanium dioxide, rutile is a tetragonal mineral. Its refractive index is one of the highest possessed by any mineral. In its natural state, rutile contains up to 10% iron, with niobium and tantalum also being significant components.
From the Latin word “rutilus,” meaning red, rutile occurs in many earth tone shades, including green.. The mineral often appears to have a deep red cast to it when light is transmitted through it. Rutile crystals can come in either a black or reddish brown color or a golden-green hue, depending or their thickness. The thicker the crystal, the darker the shade.
This 950 silver necklace measured approximately 16 inches and is secured with a silver clasp. This necklace uses a round hard wire silver chain to maintain its shape. The circumference of the wire measures approximately 5 inches. Earrings are 1.5 inches from the lobe.

To maintain your Swarovski and Rutile crystals’ sheen: 1) avoid exposure to household chemicals like hair spray, perfume and cleaning products; 2) wipe them gently with a warm damp cloth to remove body oils and perspiration; 3) when storing, keep them separate from other gemstones and metals that may scratch them.
950 silver should be stored in an airtight container with a soft lining. Cleaning with soap and water and buffing with a soft cloth will keep your 950 silver shiny as new. Avoid exposure of your 950 silver to abrasive cleansers and bleach, which may cause discoloration.
