Generations of Mongolian nomads have handed down ancient crafts, including leather-making. Located in north central Asia, most of this country’s industry is centered in Ulaan Baataar, where Grassroots is located and works to help Mongolian artisans earn a better living. That industry is driven largely by the country’s livestock resources, one of which is leather and leather goods.
Headwear is one of the most colorful and original items of the Mongolian national dress. Mongolian women’s hats are often adorned with turquoise stones. Those same vibrant gemstones are a focal point of this leather wallet.
