A green-colored form of quartz, Prasiolite or green amethyst typically obtains its coloration by artificially treating natural amethyst with heat. For nearly forty years, almost all Prasiolite has been collected from a tiny mine in Brazil, making it a rare gemstone.
The term “briolette” refers to any pear-shaped gemstone whose entire surface has been cut in triangular facets. This faceting captures light and sends it bouncing in rainbow prisms. As with Prasiolite, the leading producer of aquamarine is the nation of Brazil. The blue variety of beryl, aquamarine is the official birthstone for March. Color of aquamarine can range from very pale blue, to pink, and to light blue.
These Green Amethyst and Aquamarine Briolette Earrings have gold-filled ear wires and chain links. They measure approximately 1.5 inches.

Quartz naturally retains its luster and is resistant to scratches and chips. Hence, wiping the surface with warm soap and water is usually the only care necessary.
All gemstone jewelry, including aquamarine, should be wiped clean with a soft cloth to avoid scratching its surface. Wash the stones with warm soapy water, gently brush them with a toothbrush and then wipe them dry.
Avoid vigorous polishing of your gold-filled jewelry so as not to destroy the gold coating, and never expose it to moisture. Keeping it in a zip-lock bag will prevent moisture and humidity from attacking it.
