Coral reefs extend for 2,000 km within the Colombian Caribbean. It’s the flaming red-orange glow of these natural formations in which artisan Martha Lopez finds her inspiration for this handcrafted Fire-Tipped Pearl and Coral necklace.
Two red-hot coral beads are centered by an iridescent Baroque button pearl in this Fire-Tipped Pearl and Coral necklace. These nature-generated gemstones are strung on a 16-inch wire neck chain in a 5-inch-circumference choker style that lays flat against the throat. When the skeletons of fallen sea creatures calcify, they grow into treelike formations. Coral reefs are the result of this process. The stones that are chipped away from these reefs exude elegance and harmoniousness.
Although off-white shades like those found in this necklace are probably the most popular, Baroque pearls come in a wide range of colors and irregular shapes, all of which showcase their luster and prismatic effect. When they are flattened, they are given the “button” designation.
This 950 silver necklace measured approximately 16 inches and is secured with a silver clasp. This necklace uses a round hard wire silver chain to maintain its shape. The circumference of the wire measures approximately 5 inches.

Much softer than other gemstone materials, coral requires careful care. It should be wiped gently with a soft, moist cloth.
The porous nature of Baroque pearls also demands extra care. To maintain their luster: 1) avoid exposure to household chemicals like hair spray, perfume and cleaning products; 2) gently wipe them with a warm damp cloth to remove body oils and perspiration; 3) when storing, keep them separate from other gemstones and metals that may scratch them.
Silver 950 should be stored in an airtight container with a soft lining. Cleaning with soap and water and buffing with a soft cloth will keep your silver 950 shiny as new. Avoid exposure of your silver 950 to abrasive cleansers and bleach, which may cause discoloration.
