This Turquoise-Tinted Seed Necklace features renewable resources from three different trees that are native to Colombia. All of the seeds are dyed to match in an exquisite turquoise coloration for a tonal effect at the neckline. This 28-inch necklace ties at the nape of the neck with an adjustable cord and is brought to Blue Gobi by Colombian artisans. Hand-strung with Tutomo seeds, this necklace culminates with a matching round Bombona seed and a large oval Azaid seed. This Turquoise-Tinted Colombian Seed Necklace brings the rich look of turquoise to the throat.
Every element of the Bombona paso, a subtropical palm tree, is put to use in Colombia. The stems of the tree are used in construction, the leaves serve as thatching, and the seeds are dyed and polished for use in handicrafts like this necklace. Azaid seeds go through the same dyeing and polishing process so that the various seeds are a perfect match.
The Totumo tree sheds fruit year round. The seeds from these fruits come in a variety of shapes and sizes, inspiring Colombian jewelry artisans. Once picked, the fruits are cut open and the seeds are scooped out. Then the seeds are left to weather and dry in the sun. Before they are ready to work with, another drying session takes place in the sun for a few more days. After this second drying, the seeds are ready to be sanded, cut and polished into the required shapes and sizes.
This necklace is 28 inches and ties at the nape of the neck, allowing you to adjust the length as your prefer.
