Our Story
The team of Blue Gobi is motivated by its entrepreneurial spirit and its need to contribute to the world. We have always looked for opportunities that are both challenging and can serve a greater purpose. It is our mission to
Create an organization that sources products directly from artisans and that in return will improve the artisan’s living condition.
Our goals are to:
- Participate in fair trade
- Exhibit artist's work in events that will generate charitable contribution for a microloan organization
- Provide microloans to artisans ourselves
The founders of Blue Gobi did much traveling around the world and saw a lot of horrendous living conditions. Right outside of Marrakech in Morocco, Blue Gobi visited a region that has not seen rain in five years. The women there are widowed and have no means of caring for their family, except to perform low wage and low skilled tasks. Their weekly income is less than $20 US. Even in a country where the cost of living is low, it barely provides adequate food and shelter for their family. However, when they are trained to make jewelry, every piece sold can significantly improve their day to day lives and their children may be able to go to school. Unfortunately, this situation is repeated throughout the countries that Blue Gobi visited.
The pull to do something meaningful and significant kept growing until the typically corporate jobs no longer provided any fulfillment. At the same time, we realized that we need to demonstrate to the next generation that commitment is important and that each of us can make a difference. Change starts today! |

In the case of Blue Gobi, we were offered an incredible merchandising opportunity through Colombian jewelry designer Martha Lopez, aka, Martica. Martica is a well known artist and a dear friend. She became the impetus to create a meaningful company and is the first artisan Blue Gobi had the pleasure of working with.

Since Blue Gobi was founded, we received wonderful support and warm welcomes throughout the world. Numerous people reached out to us and offered to help without monetary compensation. We built relationships with Colombia, Nepal, Mongolia, Morocco, India, Thailand, and Haiti based on these generous assistances. In addition, we met several like-minded artisans and technical experts in the U.S. who support our cause by lending their professional expertise to the developing nations. Thank you. Thank you.
